As the Kansas City Public Library's liaison with the Young Friends of the Library group, I worked closely with their steering committee to develop a variety activities to recruit new members as well as promote the Library through more creative and unique programs. In 2018 we came up with an idea to observe the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein with "FrankenWines," a ticketed live-reading performance of sections from the book at local bookstore and bar Our Daily Nada. The event was a hit, selling out all tickets for a full house.
In 2019 we expanded the concept into a pair of Halloween-themed events held in October: The first, "All Hallow's Read," was a book swap event at Strange Days Brewing Co. Guests brought books they were done with, exchanging them with others brought by other attendees. The second program was another FrankenWines live-reading performance, this time featuring portions of the Stephen King horror classic Salem's Lot.
In addition to being among the events' lead organizers, I designed the set of promotional graphics and marketing materials, which included original illustrations. For fundraising merchandise, I created a FrankenStein glass beer stein design, which was sold by the Young Friends.
