ABOUT:
The website RecycleSpot.org serves as a one-stop spot for information about recycling and waste reduction for the Kansas City area. In summer of 2012, I oversaw a campaign promoting the site that largely consisted of outdoor advertisements, including transit and public waste bins... the latter a natural fit for the recycling messages.
My concept for the outreach efforts centered around a pair of cartoon characters - a recycling bin and a trash bag - engaging in a series of lightheartedly antagonistic vignettes. Simple statements such as "Recycling Shrinks Waste" and "Reduce Your Waste Line" were paired with the figures and the RecycleSpot.org information.
