Local NPR affiliate KCUR 89.3 FM had recently undergone a rebranding in 2016 when I was engaged to refresh the visual mark of the station's flagship program, Up to Date. One of the guiding principles of the project was to create a clean, professional graphic that was well suited to reflect the style and tone of host Steve Kraske's interviews; additionally, the station wanted the new logo to more closely connect to their new brand, yet also embody some unique character of its own.
I worked closely with station representatives on a few rounds of designs before the team opted to go in this direction; several elements of the primary KCUR branding were applied to the final Up to Date identity, specifically some of the colors.
